  • The Meier family reopened Crossroads Restaurant on Nov. 14 at 3555 Old Kawkawlin Road, serving their classic breakfast dishes along with a new lunch menu. They continue running the family business while Mike Meier undergoes stage 4 cancer treatment (a challenge they face with determination).  MLive
  • Former state Senator and Bay City businessman Joel Gougeon, 82, died on Dec. 21 at Covenant Cooper Hospital in Saginaw (he served in the Michigan Senate and on the Bay County Board). He rewrote Michigan’s Mental Health Code and supported local projects; his family plans a memorial celebration in spring.  MLive
