COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ This week, GM gave $120K to nonprofits that support STEAM education at Bay City and Saginaw plants and the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA pool area will close for six weeks starting early December for a water slide installation. Bay City schools have begun a bond application for needed upgrades while Bridge Partners said its Facebook page is fixed and toll rates for the bridges will not change in 2026—other local updates include upcoming fundraisers and planned projects. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Federal prosecutors charged the West Virginia-based Applied Partners LLC with a felony for allegedly mishandling asbestos during the demolition of a former TRW plant at 2328 E. Genesee Ave between Sept. 17 and Oct. 24, 2019 — court dates are pending. MLive
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Covenant and Delta College students hosted a safety event for Francis Reh Academy students this morning. The Delta students set up six safety stations (pedestrian, bike, internet, healthy lifestyles, 911 calling, and fire protocols) and gave students backpacks (with safety information). WNEM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Four Lakes Task Force will use a $2.25 million grant to install new architectural—mechanical—electrical—plumbing equipment at the Edenville dam to upgrade gate controls and de-icing systems. The project will lower overall costs and benefit local property owners, following support from Congressman John Moolenaar. WNEM

- ➤ A three-year-old boy from Saginaw County was diagnosed with LCH on November 4 and will begin a year of chemo treatments next week—community friend Sarah Theile is running a cookie fundraiser by selling $18 boxes with orders open until December 8 to help with travel costs for hospital trips. - ➤ Lee Thompson is a longtime sportswriter at MLive and The Bay City Times who has covered local high school sports since 1996 and earned many awards from the Michigan Press Association and the Associated Press (he won first-place awards three times and received the President's Award in 2013). He worked at Mount Pleasant Morning Sun, The Saginaw News, Midland Daily News, and the Ogemaw County Herald and is a Bay City native who graduated from T.L.
