  • A new project by the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation Leadership Bay County Class of 2026 will create a safe and fenced playground for children ages 0-3 at Wenonah Park to support families and the upcoming United Way downtown child center — the class plans to raise $30,000 for equipment, fencing, mulch, and landscaping — with work expected to finish by summer.  WNEM

CULTURE NEWS

  • Flushing High Theatre is presenting Pride and Prejudice today through November 9—this live stage performance brings a classic tale to local audiences.  ABC12

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • In November 1913, a five-day storm called the White Hurricane—an event that stunned the lakes—hit the Great Lakes with strong winds and giant 30‑foot waves. The storm—occurring in two phases—sank a dozen ships and claimed the lives of over 250 sailors.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Thursday (bills 4073 and 4421) Michigan lawmakers passed legislation that requires DNR and DEM officials to get owner permission or a warrant before entering private property except in emergencies. The bills now move to the Senate (where Governor Whitmer may sign them if approved), aiming to strengthen property rights.  ABC12
