- ➤ A fire heavily damaged the firefighter station at Garfield Township at 1242 Erickson Road on Oct. 30 in rural Bay County. Fire crews pulled trucks out as the roof collapsed — no injuries were reported and a sheriff's investigator is looking for the cause. MLive

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Saginaw Township will soon vote on a bond proposal that seeks over $169M for school updates — the funds will be used to modernize classrooms, improve safety, upgrade athletic fields, and add a 2.85 mill tax if approved. Mid Michigan NOW
- ➤ Nearly 360 students at SVSU participate in the Thompson Working Families Scholarship program, which provides $11,000 a year with funds matched by the Thompson Foundation & helps high-achieving students overcome financial obstacles. - ➤ Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, about 40 essential airport employees—28 TSA workers and 20 air traffic controllers—have missed a half paycheck and a full paycheck.
