Bay City neighbors fear their five-year Chilson Avenue Halloween display will be taken down after Friday if city officials do not resolve permit and insurance issues—residents say they have met the city’s requests but still face compliance hurdles.

A commission member has suggested waiving fees to help complete the permit process.

This week, Michigan drivers pay an average of $3.09 per gallon for regular unleaded gas — a 6-cent increase from last week — even though the price is 13 cents lower than last month and 27 cents lower than last year.

Yesterday, the Bay City Commission approved a plan to use $5 million from bridge lease funds for street repairs—$2.5 million will go to immediate work and $2.5 million will be reserved for future matching grants.
