Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 23rd of September.
Good morning, Bay City.
🏘️ Community
The Bay Area Chamber of Commerce announced that 22 local professionals have been chosen for a nine-month Leadership Bay County Class of 2026 program that builds leadership skills to address local challenges.
Participants from sectors such as education, government, and business — focusing on areas like transportation and economic development — will gain training to make a lasting community impact.
🏛️ Government
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel won a temporary court order that stops the USDA from taking sensitive SNAP data, protecting many families' private information.
Twenty-two states joined the lawsuit and the ruling delays any forced changes to Michigan’s SNAP program — a full hearing is set for the future.
🏥 Health
Frozen shrimp sold at Kroger were recalled after possible contamination by Cesium‑137—tens of thousands of bags sold between June 12 and Sept.
17 may be affected. Consumers are urged to return or dispose of the product for a full refund while the FDA continues its investigation.
