  • Union members from LiUNA Local 1098 donated and installed new basketball rims at the Boys & Girls Club in Bay City—improving the facility for local kids to play safely.  Mid Michigan NOW
  • Johnson's Pumpkin Farm in Saginaw County is marking its 40th season with fun fall events like pumpkin picking, a corn maze, train rides, and a petting zoo—activities that run daily until October 31. The 40-acre farm in Buena Vista Township welcomes thousands and employs 140 seasonal workers.  ABC12

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Michigan's 2024 traffic data showed 288,880 crashes, 1,099 deaths and 71,316 injuries, with bicycle, motorcycle and pedestrian incidents increasing while seven counties—Alger, Baraga, Cheboygan, Keweenaw, Luce, Missaukee and Presque Isle—recorded no traffic deaths. Alcohol-involved collisions dropped but drug-related incidents rose, underscoring ongoing safety challenges on state roads.  MLive

  • Bay City Boat Rental will launch its new self-serve kayak rental service on Friday, Sept. 19 at 1201 Evergreen Drive—renters sign a waiver to get a lock code to access kayaks that can be launched at the site or taken elsewhere to explore Saginaw-Bay Area waters.  WNEM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Delta College Planetarium has reopened for public shows after a two-week closure for major upgrades to its projection and lightning systems — the biggest modernization project since 2018. The enhanced systems will offer better visuals during the shows.  Mid Michigan NOW

  • Midland Dow head coach Terry Schwartzkopf celebrated his 400th match milestone as his doubles team swept Byron Center, Portage Central and Grosse Pointe North during the Sunsational Invitational at Midland Community Tennis Center—earning 21 points overall.  MLive
  • Former Saginaw High and Florida star Anthony Roberson was inducted into the Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2025 at The Dow Event Center during the final regular season boys basketball game—an event that recognized his long career as both a player and coach.  MLive
