- ➤ A Vassar Public Schools teacher was placed on leave on Thursday after posting a comment about activist Charlie Kirk’s death on social media — officials said the remark did not reflect school board views. School leaders did not provide details or a timetable for a decision on the teacher’s future. ABC12

- ➤ The fall foliage outlook shows trees starting to change color as cooler nights arrive—experts note that a heat wave and warm days could delay peak colors. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State regulators on Sept. 11 ordered major utilities to credit customers $42 automatically after outages lasting four days—up from the previous $40 credit. DTE and Consumers Energy will now apply the rule during extended or repeated outages. MLive

- ➤ Two new laws went into effect this year that require all schools to have an emergency plan with AEDs and CPR-trained coaches to save lives during a cardiac arrest.
