- ➤ Governor Gretchen Whitmer ordered U.S. and Michigan flags to be lowered to half-staff today to honor those who lost their lives in the September 11 attacks—residents are urged to observe silence at 8:46 a.m. and to raise the flags again tomorrow. WNEM
- ➤ Bay City is accepting applications for the 3rd Ward City Commissioner seat—applicants must live in the ward and submit an application, affidavit, and resume by 4 p.m. on Oct. 27 to City Manager Dana Muscott at 301 Washington Avenue, Room 309. The selected appointee will serve the remainder of the term until Dec. 31. WNEM
- ➤ Bay City issued more trash fines in one day than in the past three years and then waived the penalties after residents complained about $200 fines for leaving trash carts at the curb — City Manager Dana Muscott said the commission will review and update the ordinance in October. MLive
