- ➤ AAA is sharing safety tips for drivers as Labor Day weekend nears. The group said it handled over 383000 calls from stranded drivers last Labor Day—urging motorists to check tires, brakes and batteries to avoid problems. WNEM
- ➤ Buena Vista Township officials on Monday Aug 25 voted unanimously to rename the community center after Duane Fairris, 66, who served as parks and recreation director and high school basketball coach mentoring local youth. The center will now be known as the Duane J. Fairris Community Center, and a renaming ceremony is planned for a later date. MLive

- ➤ A court hearing on August 26 resulted in Robert Tweedly being bound over—he faces trial on charges of murder and dismemberment of Justie Stilwell, a Bay County man he met on a dating app in Bay City last September. WNEM

- ➤ Bay City officials waived fines for trash cart placement violations and issued warnings after residents and commissioners questioned the steep penalties—property owners had to remove bins by 8 a.m. the day after collection to keep neighborhoods orderly. MLive
