- ➤ On May 12, 2025, 38-year-old Shane W. Gillette, a paroled bank robber, allegedly smashed his way into the Bay County Law Enforcement Center—where he attacked an inmate and a corrections officer—before police arrested him. MLive

- ➤ Mid-Michigan residents have a busy weekend of free events from today through Aug. 17—Montrose hosts its 54th Blueberry Festival with a parade, crafts and a pie contest, Midland offers a County Fair and an 80s concert series, Saginaw wraps up Friday Night Live with a Motown-themed concert, and Bay City State Park stages Music from the Marsh on Aug. 16 with String Thing performing. - ➤ Attorney General Dana Nessel urged 279 Michigan municipalities to join the national agreement for the $7.4 billion Purdue Pharma opioid settlement before Sept. 30 + the measure was meant to secure funds for addiction prevention and treatment. MLive
- ➤ Bay City Commissioner Andrea Burney-Obershaw announced her resignation today ahead of a planned censure vote following documented charter violations and four recall attempts—she said she looks forward to a new chapter and plans to launch a YouTube channel as Bay City Hall has not yet named her replacement.
