- ➤ The Dan Campbell Burger returned at Cams Brick Oven in St. Charles on July 31 for the upcoming Lions season—Menards Inc announced plans to build a 39,000-square-foot bagging facility at its Saginaw distribution center on Veterans Memorial Park Way that will add up to nine jobs. MLive
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Federal funding requests are set to improve roads, bridges and public safety as part of the Community Project Funding Initiative for fiscal year 2026 federal budget — projects include resurfacing State Park Drive, repairing a fire station in Bridgeport, replacing Frances Road Bridge and developing land next to the university. These efforts aim to boost job creation and economic growth in mid-Michigan. WNEM

- ➤ The Great Lakes Bay Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau named Ann K. Bruzewski as its new president and chief executive officer, replacing Annette Rummel—she will lead tourism development across Bay, Saginaw, and Midland counties. Bruzewski brings over 20 years of hospitality and destination management experience and will guide efforts to boost overnight stays and sustainable tourism. MLive
- ➤ A Michigan Court of Claims expedited a lawsuit alleging Gov. Whitmer delayed calling a special election for the vacant 35th Senate seat—Judge Redford denied a show cause request and set deadlines—and the plaintiffs said the delay left 270,000 residents unrepresented for over 200 days. MLive

- ➤ Heritage House—also known as the Garber House—was demolished on Aug. 11 in Essexville due to its deteriorating condition and lack of funding for upkeep. The school district will salvage remaining planks from the shed and garage as it plans to honor the historic site with a new STEM center. MLive
