- ➤ The Willew Lounge in Bangor Township partially closed its back room on June 27 after a ceiling collapse, and owners Bellenger and Jill have asked the community for help to raise $40K—benefit events on August 24 and September 21 will fund the necessary repairs to restore full seating. WNEM
- ➤ The 160th Bay County Fair kicked off on July 29 at the Bay County Fairgrounds and will run until Aug. 2, offering carnival rides, animal exhibits, games and fair foods with free admission and parking. Daily events include family rides, car shows and contests—giving local visitors a variety of activities throughout the fair. MLive

- ➤ Lee's Garden in Shields caught fire Tuesday, July 29 at 11:20 p.m. and fire crews from several departments saved the restaurant after a passerby called 911 (damaging the roof, attic, and nearby businesses) with no injuries while officials investigated the cause. WNEM
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Rondarius Jones, 25, was arrested today at a casino—charged with tampering with evidence after deleting surveillance video from the night of Demetrious Robinson’s murder—and he now faces accessory after the fact and two gun charges. ABC12
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Community Choice Credit Union is offering scholarships to local students who want to learn trades like welding, plumbing, construction, and electrical work — a move to help fill the thousands of unfilled skilled trades jobs in Michigan. - ➤ The final round of the Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour will take place on Saginaw Bay from Aug. 7 to 10, as 66 top fishing pros compete for a $150,000 prize and a share of the season purse.
