ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local farmers said the corn is 'sweating' by giving off up to 4,000 gallons of moisture per acre each day to cool off during the heat wave, and they warned that continued dryness may lower yields—raising grocery prices if crops suffer. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bay City commissioner Alex Dewitt (6th Ward) said the city has not received official updates from Bay City Bridge Partners since winter, and he wants clear information on the toll bridges. He asked BCBP (which runs the Liberty and Independence bridges) to share details on work, usage, and investment to better serve residents.  WNEM
  • Delta College Public Media is urging local viewers to call Congress to restore a $1 million funding cut—after the Rescissions Act removed $1.1 billion from public broadcasting. The broadcaster, which operates five TV stations and one radio station that support an emergency alert system for 1.2 million Mid-Michigan residents, said it will have to cut programs and staff if funds are not restored.  ABC12
