- ➤ Bay City Electric Light and Power is ready for the heat wave with four backup energy plants (capable of generating up to 27 megawatts) to support high electricity demand later this week. Experts advise residents to adjust air conditioners, clean outdoor units, and close blinds to keep homes cool and conserve energy. ABC12
- ➤ Bay City Bridge Partners hired Pete Raketic as the new general manager after a six-week transition confirmed on Tuesday, July 22. He replaces Kevin Bischel, who had served since September 2024. MLive

- ➤ A graduate student from Central Michigan University updated a 40-year inventory of mussels in the Tittabawassee River watershed and found changes in species counts and dead shells that point to mussel die-offs—his discovery of the threatened Slippershell in a new location may guide future research. - ➤ The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will host its 30th annual Saginaw Bay Waterfowl and Outdoor Festival at Bay City State Park on Aug. 2 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Aug. 3 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.). - ➤ Bay City commissioners postponed a decision on contracting with Flock Safety for license plate reading technology after a tied 4-4 vote sent the matter to staff for clarification. Some commissioners questioned the $84,000 cost and privacy issues while law enforcement officials said the system helps solve crimes by capturing license plate data for 30 days. MLive
