ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Gladwin County deputies investigated a two-vehicle crash in Bentley Township on July 18 that killed a 20-year-old local man—officials are waiting for toxicology results to determine if alcohol or drugs were involved. MLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bay City commissioners postponed a vote on contracting with Flock Safety for license plate readers after a 4-4 tie on Monday, July 21—Mayor Chris Girard supported referring the measure to staff amid concerns over privacy and excessive surveillance. MLive
- ➤ Bay City Commission approved a plan Monday, July 21 to convert unused space at Good Samaritan Rescue Mission into a homeless drop-in center using $250,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds—funding that will pay for a new entryway, laundry, bathrooms, shower rooms, community space, and meeting areas. The city will soon enter a funding agreement with the shelter as it selects a contractor to start construction. MLive
