- ➤ After an accidental fireworks display on July 3 ignited a trailer (affecting only a few fireworks), Bay City Fireworks Festival will continue as planned and all affected fireworks are being replaced for the show (today). WNEM
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Early Friday, July 4th, a trailer carrying fireworks caught fire with no injuries and was quickly put out by Bay City fire crews—Wolverine has replaced the compromised fireworks so Saturday night’s show will continue as scheduled. MLive
- ➤ A trailer full of fireworks in Bay City lost its contents when a fire began Friday morning after a spark from Thursday night's show ignited nearby grass—Bay City Public Safety Department quickly put out the flames, and organizers say replacements will be in place for Saturday night's show. BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ TerrAscend is closing its entire Michigan marijuana business, including a cultivation center in Bay City and a Gage Cannabis dispensary in Burton, with 20 stores set to shut down by the end of 2025. More than 250 workers will lose their jobs and stores will remain open with reduced hours for the next three to six months — the move will free up resources to pay down debt and strengthen operations in other states and Canada. - ➤ Bay City Commissioners will vote Monday, July 7 at 6 p.m. at City Hall on a proposal by Commissioner Craig Kokaly that would require them to live in the wards they represent—he said this rule is meant to ensure officials stay close to the issues in their neighborhoods. MLive
