- ➤ Next Act Youth Theatre in Bay City will perform The Lion King Jr. at the historic State Theatre—featuring nearly 40 young performers from third to 12th grade who rehearsed three days a week since late June—on July 10, 11, and 12 at 7 p.m. ABC12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bay City commissioners will vote on a $43,060 contract with Redstone Architects to determine the needed repairs for the defunct Fire Station 5, which closed in July 2024 due to high repair and staffing costs plus poor conditions. The firm will evaluate work including asbestos removal, roof repairs, and other critical fixes with recommendations provided within 120 days. MLive
- ➤ The Michigan Senate passed seven opioid recovery bills that remove extra steps for getting treatment for opioid withdrawal, allowing insurance to cover medications without a doctor’s note. The proposals now move to the Michigan House for review+ lawmakers are expected to support the package. WNEM
- ➤ The Saginaw Fire Department ran a technical rescue training on Wednesday when its special team practiced rope rescues from a training tower. The department will host Bay City Fire Department live fire training next Friday + it will help firefighters practice high-angle rescues and respond to dangerous material incidents. ABC12
