- ➤ Today the 75th annual St. Stan’s Polish Festival opens at the St. Stan’s Athletic Club Complex on John Solinski Drive and will run through Sunday — the event offers a Road Race at 6 p.m. on Thursday, live polka music, carnival rides and a mix of Polish and American food for family fun. MLive
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A team of researchers at CMU is helping the DNR improve wetland management by taking water samples at the Shiawassee River State Game Area and Pointe Mouillee State Game Area to test for nitrogen levels. The project is funded by the DNR and will boost water quality, wildlife habitat — and help protect downstream communities from flood risk. ABC12

- ➤ Michigan lawmakers are reviewing a plan to replace the current 31 cent per gallon motor fuel tax with a mileage-based system as electric vehicles grow in popularity. A pilot program with $7.5 million in funds will be discussed in Lansing in the coming days — experts say rural drivers may benefit from paying a lower per-mile fee than urban drivers.
