- ➤ Bay City’s Maplewood Park has been revamped with three basketball courts, two mini soccer pitches and new accessible playground equipment, plus improved amenities like bathrooms and wide pathways. The sports complex will open at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27 — a project made possible by community support and city involvement. MLive
- ➤ Nehring's Market owner Kathryn Nehring said a new roundabout at the intersection of Belsay and Bristol roads in Burton will remove driveways and reduce space at her market—she said the change could complicate deliveries. Nehring will speak with Burton City Council again on June 23—hoping to discuss alternatives to the plan. ABC12
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Michigan will face the first significant heat wave of summer later this week as daytime highs are forecast to hit the 90s by Friday and remain through the weekend. Nighttime temperatures will stay in the mid-70s—officials advise children, the elderly and outdoor workers to stay cool and hydrated so they can avoid heat-related illnesses. MLive

- ➤ The Michigan Department of Transportation will resurface M-13—known as Euclid Avenue—from Wilder Road to Keisel Road starting Sunday, June 22 at 9 p.m., with one lane open in each direction until 4 a.m. each night as part of a $330,000 project that is weather dependent. MLive
- ➤ About 770 residents from Midland, Gladwin, and Saginaw counties signed a letter to Gov. Whitmer asking the state to help with recovery from the 2020 dam disaster—other officials also received the letter. The residents claim the state was aware of dam issues while the Attorney General maintains that evidence shows state agencies are not responsible for the dam failure. ABC12
