- ➤ Essexville-Hampton Public Schools unanimously selected Dr. Davion R. Lewis as the new superintendent on June 5, and he will begin his role on July 1 after interviews with staff+ community members. WNEM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Veterans Memorial Bridge over Saginaw River will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. Monday, June 9 to 4 a.m. Tuesday for an electrical system inspection—crews will do intermittent test openings to check safety. Residents should plan alternate routes during the closure. MLive
- ➤ Bay City’s public safety department has budgeted for a Flock Safety license plate reading camera system that will be online in about a year, costing $39,000 a year with over $6,100 for setup—intended to capture plates and check them against a hotlist to alert officers about vehicles linked to crimes. The system will help officers spot stolen vehicles and those with felony warrants. MLive
