- ➤ Mid-Michigan Children's Museum is launching an Adopt-a-Bed program at its pavilion that invites volunteers to plant raised flower beds until the end of September. Each participant will receive museum passes in June, July + September and must supply their own plants and tools. MLive
- ➤ BaySail is selling its schooner Appledore IV and suspending 2026 operations as it re-evaluates future plans (focusing on funding changes and donor requirements). The nonprofit said the board will decide on a sustainable path for its environmental education mission. MLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Buena Vista Township received nearly $475,000 to help upgrade homes as part of a housing summit held May 21. The township will also use nearly $943,000 to place 10 manufactured homes for sale — a move to support long-term residents. WNEM
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Three MyMichigan wound treatment centers in the Great Lakes Bay Region received 2025 awards for clinical performance & patient satisfaction. The Towne Centre in Saginaw earned the Distinguished Wound Center of Excellence by receiving awards twice while centers in Tawas and Standish also received honors. MLive
- ➤ Tiffany Burk from Bay Animal Hospital offered advice on managing pet allergies for local pet owners. She explained how to spot symptoms and choose treatments to keep pets comfortable. ABC12
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Bay City area high school girls soccer teams competed on May 20, 2026, with John Glenn winning 8-0 over Central to advance to Tuesday's 4 p.m. semifinal at Mount Pleasant and Bay City Western earning a 12-0 victory. Essexville Garber scored 9-1, Beaverton celebrated its first postseason win with an 11-0 score over Oscoda, and Pinconning lost 3-2 in overtime to Roscommon. MLive
- ➤ Bay City Western won its overall Saginaw Valley League baseball championship after a 9-1 win over Flint Powers, marking its second straight title and 10th in 14 seasons. Coach Tim McDonald said the team overcame early setbacks by clinching Game 2 and Game 3 in a best-of-three series. MLive
- ➤ Tristan Pohl led Freeland to a TVC Red boys golf win at Pine River Country Club in Alma Wednesday with a 2-under 69 while his team edged Essexville Garber + clinched the season championship. MLive
- ➤ On May 20, Bay County high school sports showcased Pinconning baseball seniors with strong hits during a Senior Day celebration, as Bay City Western softball and Bay City All Saints teams earned key wins, and Bay City Central pitched a shutout against Flint Carman-Ainsworth (with games scheduled through May 23).
