- ➤ Bishop Robert Gruss suspended the planned May 28 closure of St. Hyacinth Church after a valid appeal & began a canonical review to allow more input from parishioners. Registered parishioners will meet at 7 p.m. on May 27 & both Saturday 4:30 p.m. and Sunday 6 p.m. Masses will continue as scheduled. WNEM

- ➤ MDOT warned Bay City residents about text scams that claim unpaid tolls as travelers head out for Memorial Day weekend—scam messages may threaten vehicle suspension and legal action and try to steal personal information. The department said there are no toll roads and urged everyone to verify any such messages directly with MDOT. WNEM
- ➤ Bay City’s Fire Station 5 closed in July and now city commissioners passed a vote asking the city manager to get bids to fix the building—residents hope the work will soon improve slow emergency response times. ABC12

- ➤ On Tuesday, Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet announced new federal funding requests to improve health care for mid-Michigan veterans and families by proposing that Central Michigan University acquire a Mobile Medical Simulation Vehicle to train VA facilities in rural areas.
