- ➤ The Michigan SBDC is hosting the Business by the Bay Pitch Competition in Bay County that offers local entrepreneurs $11,000 in prizes and coaching workshops—applications opened on May 14 and are due by Aug. 13. The competition will conclude on Nov. 12 at John Glenn High School when five finalists will pitch their business plans. MLive

- ➤ Jonathan M. Zieroff was charged with torture on May 14 for allegedly keeping a woman captive until police found her last September; she was declared brain dead on May 13 and his life offense may be upgraded to murder if her family later removes her from life support—he remains jailed on a $50,000 bond. - ➤ The 2025 World Expo of Beer will take place Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17 at Heritage Park in Frankenmuth. More than 50 vendors will offer drinks from both local and international brewers — including a Belgian Pale Ale made with Michigan cherries by a Bay City company — while tickets cost between $24 and $34.
