- ➤ Party on McCarty returns this summer in Saginaw Township with a concert series from June 11 to Aug. 13 + themed nights including 60s and 70s Hippie Hits, 70s and 80s Boogie Bash, Motown Night, Dance the 80s and 90s, and Country Night; sponsors can still join. MLive
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Bay City Western Middle School sixth graders, guided by teacher Dan Horwath, released about 120 Chinook salmon into the Kawkawlin River on Friday, May 1 — after raising them from eggs in a classroom fish tank as part of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Salmon in the Classroom program. - ➤ Members First Credit Union awarded four local students a $2,500 scholarship each on Friday, May 1 as part of its 90-year service legacy. The awards, given for academic achievement and community leadership, are funded through the Swinging for Scholarships Golf Outing set for July 22. MLive

- ➤ Child & Family Services of Saginaw will launch a free sewing support group called Stitching Ourselves Back Together for adult survivors on June 10 in Saginaw Township. The group meets weekly from 5 to 6 p.m. until July 15 and requires registration by June 1 at 989-790-7500 ext. 241. MLive
- ➤ Covenant HealthCare began building a $25M orthopedic center (25,700 sqft) at its Mackinaw Road campus in Saginaw Township after a groundbreaking event last month. The facility will combine outpatient services with a walk-in urgent care model and will open in summer 2027. MLive

- ➤ On April 30, high-school teams in tennis, golf, lacrosse, softball, baseball and soccer posted wins and tight contests at sites (Janet Jopke Courts and West Branch Country Club); upcoming games will feature matchups today and early next week across Bay County. MLive
- ➤ The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan announced its Division 4 girls basketball all-state team for 2026, recognizing top high school players from across the state (including a Bay City All Saints Central selection) as part of its annual BCAM’s Best release. MLive
- ➤ The Pistons won Game Six on May 1 in Orlando after overcoming a 22-point halftime deficit and will host Game Seven on Sunday in Detroit. ABC12
