- ➤ CRYPT, a goth-themed event with live music, dancing and a clothing swap, will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2 (700 N. Madison Ave). Attendees 16 and older can enjoy band performances and DJ sets while proceeds support restoration efforts; admission is $20. MLive
- ➤ Bay County Library System will host New York Times bestselling author Jean Kwok for a free event at the State Theatre on Tuesday, May 12. The talk starts at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) and includes a Q&A session and a book signing. MLive
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ DTE has proposed a near 10% increase in electric rates to fund grid upgrades. The Michigan Public Service Commission will review the proposal with a final decision expected in February and if approved, the change will start March 1, 2027. ABC12

- ➤ Michigan Auto Law awarded Kelsey's Law scholarships this month to four high school students for video and graphic projects that promote safe driving. The winners, including Alyssa Marx who received $2,000, can use their awards for college or technical school tuition. MLive
