Good morning, Bay City.

Dozens gathered at Sips 476 to honor the memory of Alejandro Gonzalez, a 20-year-old who lost his life saving a friend in the ocean—attendees enjoyed a spaghetti dinner and a 50-50 raffle with proceeds going to his family.

On April 25th, 725 volunteers gathered for the United Way of Bay County’s Day of Caring to clean, paint and landscape local neighborhoods (the event began with a rally at Wenonah Park).

They later met for a group lunch to celebrate their work (community projects like these help brighten Bay Co.).

Bay County judges dismissed dozens of criminal cases — including a drug-trafficking case against 47-year-old Jessie A.

Today the MI Book Hop begins and will run until May 26—79 indie bookstores across Michigan invite book lovers to fill out bingo cards for prizes ranging from a $500 gift card to a golden ticket for a year's supply of audiobooks.

The event, held in honor of Independent Bookstore Day, encourages shoppers to support local stores and explore different regions statewide.
