The Bay Area Community Foundation is preparing Bay County’s 11th annual 24-hour Give Local Bay event on Tuesday, May 6—an effort to support over 60 nonprofits in Bay and Arenac counties through activities like a scavenger hunt and dunk tank challenge with in-person donation options at Pere Marquette Depot until 5:00 p.m. Additional highlights include a cornhole bonus challenge, ice cream sales with matching incentives, and a closing celebration at Tri-City Brewing Company.

Halla Mechatronics announced plans to expand by purchasing two 140,000-square-foot facilities in Williams Township as part of an $8.5 million investment that will house engineering offices and research testing labs.

The expansion is expected to create up to 43 jobs with an average wage of $56.40 an hour and includes a $473,000 performance-based state grant.

Monarch butterflies that spent the winter in Mexico are making their way north and volunteers with Journey North have spotted them as far as Illinois and Virginia.
