  • Hospital Hospitality House of Saginaw will host its 11th annual Kentucky Derby Party on Apr. 30 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Horizons Conference Center, 6200 State St; WNEM meteorologist Chris Easlick will emcee the event that supports local hospitality houses providing lodging for out-of-town patients and families.  MLive

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday, April 14, a tornado cut a nearly four-mile path in Albee Township (reaching 105 mph) that uprooted trees and damaged houses and outbuildings in southern Saginaw County.  MLive

  • A new dermatology clinic (Nash Dermatology Clinic) is under construction in Kochville Township at 4292 Redcrest Drive and is expected to be completed by this fall, adding to a wave of local business developments, according to township officials.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sanford Lake began refilling at 12:01 a.m. on April 15 after a dam failed nearly six years ago from a rain event; water has already risen 9 feet and will climb 7 more feet by Memorial Day while engineers pause the process for two weeks — letting experts monitor the dam.  MLive
