CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police responded to a rolling gunfight that began Tuesday, April 15 in Saginaw County and ended in Bay County when three men were wounded—officers collected shell casings Wednesday morning and are seeking video footage of the other vehicle. MLive
- ➤ Three people were hospitalized in Bay City after a shootout on Tuesday evening when two cars chased each other and fired guns near the Zilwaukee Bridge and River Road — one patient was discharged while others remain at large. ABC12

- ➤ Bay City Public Schools announced that a Handy Middle School student died Tuesday afternoon after exiting his bus near MacGregor Elementary, and the district will provide crisis support to affected students (including available counselors) tomorrow morning. Mid Michigan NOW
- ➤ The state of Michigan will launch the Ticket to Tuition FAFSA Sweepstakes to offer nearly $1 million in prizes, including 40 prizes worth $10,000 + 10 prizes worth $50,000, to help first-time FAFSA filers lower the cost of higher education. - ➤ Michigan State Police will join National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 26th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to safely dispose of unused, expired, and unwanted prescription pills — liquids, inhalers, patches and syringes are not accepted. - ➤ Bay City lost $6.7 million on its DoubleTree hotel investment—city officials said the project brought in $8.3 million from taxes, utilities and fees that helped revitalize downtown. The hotel foreclosed and was sold at a sheriff’s auction after 20 years of spurring local growth. MLive
