ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Bay City Police are increasing patrols around Veterans Memorial Bridge today because accidents and complaints have risen at major intersections. The department reported a 102% increase in crashes since Lafayette Bridge closed and said officers will focus on busy areas during peak times—especially at McKinley and Saginaw. ABC12
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ SK Group plans to sell a 70.6% stake in SK Siltron CSS at its Monitor Township facility to private equity firm Hahn & Co.—employees were informed of the potential deal last week amid plans to expand operations with a federal loan. Local officials are not worried about the change, saying business adjustments are normal. MLive
- ➤ Barney’s Bakehouse Bakery, a 100-year-old local favorite, is moving one mile from its current location to 512 Saginaw Street—its new facility will open in June to better serve loyal customers. - ➤ Dr. Elizabeth Morrison from Oregon filed a lawsuit in Saginaw County Circuit Court after Dr. David L. Stockman failed to pay her $21,846.87 as agreed in an October settlement—her attorney now seeks a default judgment after weeks of follow-up attempts. Morrison dropped her federal suit in exchange for the promised payment and is now using legal channels to enforce the agreement. MLive

- ➤ AAA of Michigan reported that gas prices fell 15 cents per gallon from last week to an average of $3.08 for regular unleaded, which is 8 cents above last month but 62 cents below last year+ they said that if gasoline demand and crude prices drop further, prices may go down more. WNEM

- ➤ The IRS says more than 40,000 Michigan taxpayers must file their 2021 returns today to claim a refund with a median value of $854—otherwise, over $1 billion in unclaimed funds could go to the U.S. Treasury and may be applied to outstanding debts such as unpaid child support or student loans.
