  • Give Local Bay has set a record with 70 campaign registrants and a 19% larger match pool ($40,000 as of April 7) and will host its Boost Bash on May 5 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Pere Marquette Depot’s 1904 Room to support local nonprofits.  Mid Michigan NOW

  • Bay City Fireworks Festival organizers have announced a fundraising challenge — the Earl Challenge — to raise $20,000 for an expanded display celebrating America's 250th birthday. Voters can cast a $5 vote on local business challenges until June 19.  ABC12

HEALTH NEWS

  • Doctors say allergy season is lasting longer due to rising pollen levels, with symptoms now persisting about 20 days more than in the past. Residents are advised to reduce exposure (by showering after outdoor activities and keeping windows closed) and seek medical help if symptoms worsen.  WNEM
  • Sanctuary Yoga in Bay City shares easy tips for managing stress this April during National Stress Awareness Month. Founder Leah Werth encourages deep breaths and healthy habits (yoga, meditation, proper sleep, and exercise) to boost mental and physical well-being.  ABC12

  • Pinconning advanced to the championship game after winning a three-team tiebreaker in the Bay County Softball Championship. The Spartans will face host Essexville Garber at noon Saturday in a historic matchup that marks their first appearance in the tournament’s 12-season history.  MLive
  • John Glenn girls soccer team (the Bobcats) secured its historic first win over Essexville Garber with a 3 to 0 score at Albert E. Johnson Stadium on April 9. The win lifted the team to the top of the TVC standings and set a promising tone for their championship drive.  MLive
