  • A Saginaw-area couple landed a Shark Tank deal for their before- and after-school program on March 25. They serve students in Midland and Freeland (with plans to add a facility in Frankenmuth) as they work to support local families.  MLive
  • Red Lobster (closed on March 22) at 4109 Wilder Road has ceased operations, leaving seafood fans without a local option, while Brooklyn Boyz continues serving New York-style pizza on Midland Street and McLaren Bay West marked their first major construction milestone on March 23 in Bay City.  MLive
  • Bethanne and Kyle Bowles have applied for a license to launch a new sidewalk café with live music, outdoor seating and alcoholic beverages in downtown Bay City. The proposal awaits review by city officials and several departments before the venue can open for business.  WNEM

CULTURE NEWS

  • Theresa Chauvette turned 100 on Friday, April 3 at Shields Comfort Care. The Saginaw native celebrated her milestone birthday with cards, a bouquet, and plans to join a bingo game and Easter egg hunt.  MLive

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Veteran’s Memorial Bridge reopened after a mechanical issue with its gates closed it Friday morning. The Michigan Department of Transportation said crews quickly fixed the problem — traffic is now flowing safely.  WNEM

SPORTS NEWS

  • Bay City area girls track and field athletes will compete throughout the 2026 spring sports season as top returners like Ripley Andrus from Bay City Western and Layla Bolzman from Unionville-Sebewaing aim for regional and state titles.  MLive
