- ➤ A 65-year-old Bay County woman won a $1.1 million Lotto 47 jackpot on Mar. 21 after matching six numbers on her ticket from Beson's Supermarket in Kawkawlin (about 10 miles northwest). She has played Lotto 47 for decades and opted for a lump sum payout. Mid Michigan NOW
- ➤ Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan and Saginaw Spirit raised a record $113,000 at their 14th annual Hockey for the Homeless event to boost daily services that shelter over 230 local residents in the Great Lakes Bay Region. WNEM
- ➤ The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Great Lakes Bay Region will break ground on a new teen center in Saginaw on April 10 at 4 p.m. at 1781 Fordney St to offer academic support, career readiness, mentorship and safe after-school activities for teens. MLive

- ➤ Bethanne and Kyle Bowles have applied for a sidewalk cafe license for Beachy’s at 213 Center Ave. in downtown Bay City; city staff recommends approval, and if granted the cafe will operate from April 1 to October 31 with live music & alcoholic beverages pending state permission. MLive

- ➤ The Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development advises locals to practice safe food handling this spring by washing hands thoroughly, using separate tools for raw meats, and storing foods properly. These steps aim to prevent foodborne illnesses during family meals. ABC12

- ➤ Local high school athletes in Bay City are set to shine in the 2026 boys track season with standout performers (Bessiake, Betzold and Bowes among others) making strong comebacks. They will compete in sprints, jumps and relays in upcoming meets. MLive
