- ➤ Bay County news this week mixed tragedy with progress as a fatal shooting at a South End bar and a tense standoff shook Bay City while low water levels revealed historic shipwrecks in the Saginaw River—officials also announced the passing of a longtime teacher, a Bay County man in a stabbing case may change his plea, a new Popeyes opened and redevelopment plans for Bay Valley Resort were approved. - ➤ While training her big cat act above Old City Hall in downtown Bay City, vaudeville star Dolores 'Dolly' Vallecita was fatally mauled by a leopard on Jan 9th, 1925 and died on Jan 12th, 1925 — her tragic death remains a part of the city's history — and raised questions about keeping wild animals in the area.
