- ➤ A resident in St. Charles reported a surprising incident on Wednesday, March 25 when a diapered spider monkey (Brazil) was seen on a porch and attempted to enter a home before returning safely to its enclosure on Coal Street. Mid Michigan NOW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Frankenmuth Credit Union awarded $20,367.17 in grants to 47 teachers from 41 schools on March 19 to help pay for classroom supplies. The Mini Educator Grant program supports materials ranging from math manipulatives to science tools. MLive
- ➤ Dr. Delicia Pruitt was named interim executive director of CMU Medical Education Partners on March 26 (she will lead efforts to boost clinical education and community health programs). MLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crews poured concrete on Friday, Mar. 27 to repair M-20 after a culvert failure closed the road on Mar. 12; MDOT expects it to reopen early April if weather holds and plans a permanent fix in 2027. MLive
- ➤ Consumers Energy received approval from state regulators on Friday to invest in millions of dollars of grid upgrades that will benefit nearly 2 million customers. The 2026 Reliability Action Plan includes projects such as trimming trees near power lines and installing stronger poles. ABC12
- ➤ Saginaw Charter Township will break ground on a $27M wastewater treatment plant upgrade at 10 a.m. April 10 at 5790 W. Michigan Ave & the project will boost treatment capacity by 0.6 million gallons per day to meet growing industrial needs. MLive
