- ➤ A Bay City mom, Kelsey Laskowski, is raising awareness for special needs—honoring her five-year-old son Gus who was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome, a rare disorder that affects one in 15,000. She and her family have raised over $126,000 through the Go Gus Go Foundation and a children’s book to support local special needs families. ABC12

- ➤ A Bay City man died tonight in a shooting during a night out with friends when a suspect known for carrying a gun because he felt scared and was disliked by others shot him, the police said. MLive

- ➤ Michigan’s unemployment insurance law, signed by Gov. Whitmer in December, will go into effect on April 2 for new claims—boosting weekly benefits from $362 to $446 and extending benefit weeks from 20 to 26 while increasing dependent allowances from $6 to $12.66 for 2025. WNEM

- ➤ Today, low water levels in the Saginaw River reveal historic wrecks, including the steamer Montauk near Wheeler’s Landing—its steel hull still partly visible—and the schooner Chieftain by the old Cass Avenue Bridge. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ FSIS recalled 29,541 pounds of Chomps Original Beef Stick Mild sold since (Jan. 13 to Jan. 15) after two consumer complaints reported metal pieces in the product. The recall was expanded on March 27 to include large bag products sent to Michigan, California, Illinois, Minnesota, and Washington, and buyers are advised to return or discard the product with no reported injuries.
