ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Bay City Department of Public Safety said that after Lafayette Bridge closed on Dec. 2, 194 crashes occurred in a busy detour area by March 8 compared to 178 the previous year—most because drivers followed too closely or did not yield in time. WNEM

- ➤ Rascals Lounge, the Saginaw bar featured in Street Boss, is listed for $160,000 by Wilson Realty. Bavarian Blast Waterpark held a soft opening on March 21 at Bavarian Inn Lodge and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen opened on March 22 at 1000 North Euclid Avenue in Bangor Township on the former site of a demolished motel. - ➤ Bay Valley Resort, which closed three years ago, is set to receive a $15 million renovation that will invest nearly $5 million to upgrade its 147 guest rooms and add about 30 new jobs—county commissioners approved a brownfield designation to cover cleanup costs and infrastructure improvements. Developer Nathan Nichols said more details will be shared in the coming weeks—he aims to restore the resort as a premier venue for weddings, corporate events, and golf. WNEM

- ➤ A Bay City parolee withdrew her plea for killing a woman in a drunken Saginaw Township crash — the judge said he would not follow the previous sentencing agreement when she appeared in Saginaw County District Court on Sept. 3. MLive

- ➤ The Marshall M. Fredericks Museum in Bay City is featuring the Peter Daniel Bernal exhibition titled 'Searching and Finding: Hidden Heritage'—an exhibit that shows his art and explores hidden cultural stories. The show opened March 26 and remains available to the public. ABC12

- ➤ Michigan's car seat law will change on April 2 as children must ride rear-facing until they turn 2 or outgrow their seats — the new rule replaces the previous requirement to use rear-facing seating until age 1 and 20 pounds. Parents must also keep children in a harnessed car seat until at least 5 years old — booster seats remain required for children under 8 and those shorter than 4 feet 9 inches. MLive
