- ➤ Over 80 local women meet every week at 5:30 a.m. at Live Oak Coffeehouse to run and support one another. Katie Roettele started Girls Who Run Bay City in 2015 for fitness and friendship — the club now empowers its members to set new personal goals. WNEM

- ➤ A man was flown to a hospital after being rescued from a fire on East White St. on March 17th in Bay City—he is now in critical condition. Mid Michigan NOW
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Water Lilly Taxi Co. will start a marine taxi service in June to give people another way to cross the Saginaw River when Veterans Memorial Bridge is the only free option. Owner Terry Wack hopes the free boat rides—supported by tips and business sponsorships—will ease traffic for local commuters. ABC12

- ➤ Police report that Bay City has seen a rise in homicides—four in 10 months—as they investigate the fatal shooting of 28-year-old local father Kane E. Crockett, who was shot near the intersection of 18th and South Sherman streets on March 15th at 2 a.m. MLive
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Bay City announced its 2025 Wednesdays in the Park summer concert series at Wenonah Park, featuring tribute bands for Taylor Swift — as well as Queen, Beach Boys, and others — in free concerts from June 11 through Aug.20. Local acts begin at 6:30 p.m. with main performances at 7 p.m., and attendees may bring lawn chairs while enjoying local dining options. MLive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bay City Mayor Chris Girard is weighing a veto on the divisive welcoming community resolution approved by the commission by a 5-4 vote on March 17—he has five days to decide, and a veto would send the resolution back to the commission at its next meeting. MLive
- ➤ Residents attending a Saginaw County Commissioners meeting demanded a special election to fill the vacant 35th State Senate District seat because the district has lacked representation since Kristen McDonald Rivet was elected to Congress in November. They urged the commissioners to pass a resolution asking the governor to call the election for the 270,000 people living in parts of Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland counties—an effort to restore local representation.
