- ➤ AAA is activating its Tow to Go program for free towing of impaired drivers over St. Patrick's Day weekend in Michigan and 10 other states from 6 p.m. March 14 to 6 a.m. March 18. The service is available to anyone without membership and transports drivers and vehicles safely within a 10-mile radius—aimed at reducing crashes. ABC12
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ A family-run restaurant that has served Bay City for almost 20 years will close next weekend—its final day is March 23. Customers can eat during regular hours until then, and gift cards work at other UNO locations. WNEM
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office says three Bay City residents including Michael Hunter, Matthew Hunter and Angela Kosecki were arrested for allegedly stealing many electronics from Walmart in Vienna Township when they filled carts and fled through a fire exit, and they now face charges of First Degree Retail Fraud + Organized Retail Crime which can lead to up to a five year sentence. - ➤ Michigan House passed a set of bills on Wednesday to help with the teacher shortage. The proposals would remove fees for teaching certificates and let local boards issue licenses if signed into law—moves that House Republicans say will expand the pool of teachers. Mid Michigan NOW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Michigan House passed a resolution asking high school sports officials to bar transgender girls from playing on female teams — eight Democrats joined House Republicans in the vote. The measure urges the athletic association to match a February order that bans transgender women from female sports. MLive
