- ➤ The Bay City Fireworks Festival will mark America's 250th anniversary with concerts and fireworks starting July 1. It features Thunderstruck on opening night and acts from July 2–4 with fireworks over the river between the Uptown Rivers Edge and Dow buildings + a fundraiser challenge by organizer Earl Bovia. WNEM

- ➤ Austin Gonzales, assistant manager at Biggby Coffee in Frankenmuth (235 N. Main St.), was named a finalist for the Barista of the Year award on March 3, with colleagues celebrating his nomination and a strong community response for his personal touch with customers. MLive
- ➤ Bay County’s Bangor Township is getting a new Wingstop restaurant as signage appears outside Suite 120 in the plaza between Walmart and Home Depot off State Park Drive—this former Yogurt Yeti location still awaits an opening date. MLive

- ➤ Bay City approved a $1M contract with Sinclair Recreation to improve Carroll Park with new inclusive playground equipment and amenities including sidewalks and benches. A public meeting is scheduled on March 20 (6:30 p.m.) at City Hall to gather community feedback before work begins later in summer. MLive
- ➤ A social media post raised concerns that a library board member plans to defund the Bay County Library System, but county officials said residents should attend an April 14 meeting at 4 p.m. (the library director will address questions about the proposed millage renewal) to get answers. WNEM
